A little over a decade since Russia's "little green men" began the process of annexing Crimea, culminating in the sham referendum in mid-March 2014, Russia has certainly done what it can to entrench itself. Whether or not Ukraine can liberate Crimea remains to be seen. Much has been done to ethnically cleans the region, after all.
